Created to Praise
"I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth." Psalms 34:1
We were created to praise God. It's ingrained in us, it is a deep desire fueled by the joy we have in simply having the honor of being called HIS!
Our mission, our purpose, our goal is to share God's good news with all the world. Jesus commissioned us to go and do likewise, that is to love others, to share God's Word, and to praise God in all we do. One of the best ways can do this is by living our lives in a way that brings God honor and glory - turning all we do into praise to Him. And when we live a praiseful life, we will inevitably be sharing God's good news with those we encounter in our lives.
We all have moments where we can clearly see God delivered us, and we should feel drawn to praise His holy name for His great mercy. Furthermore, the more we seek Him, in all we do, in our daily live, through prayer, through studying His Word...the more we will see that is praiseworthy. We will begin to go through life seeing that every little thing He does for us is cause for celebration. The joy we have, the hope of knowing someday we will join God in heaven, is made even deeper as we seek to praise Him for every good thing.
I have a few challenges this week, if you want to boost your praise life:
1 - read all of Psalm 34 out loud. Really let the Word soak in. Really mean it when you use these Words to praise God.
2 - make a praise list. If you want to go wild - make a new praise list every day (it's okay to repeat some, but tru to find multiple new items to praise God for daily). You might see a beautiful butterfly, or a new flower blooming. Maybe someone in traffic lets you cut in when an unexpected lane closure pops up. I once praised God that I had extra soap in the closet when I ran out and did not have time to run to the store that day. It can be big, small, in between but take time to praise your Maker!
3 - Every time you talk with God this week, include something (or multiple things) from your praise list in your prayers.
Sometimes it is easy to take for granted all the things God blesses us with every day: the sun, the trees, the air, our loved ones, a curious squirrel, a majestic eagle... Let's make a conscience effort to thank Him and praise Him more. It is so good for our souls! And it will strengthen our relationship with Him!
Be blessed and be the blessing, my friends. And praise God for He is always good!
