God Saves His People

““When they sin against You (for there is no one who does not sin), and You become angry with them and deliver them to the enemy, and they take them captive to a land far or near; yet when they come to themselves in the land where they were carried captive, and repent, and make supplication to You in the land of their captivity, saying, ‘We have sinned, we have done wrong, and have committed wickedness’; and when they return to You with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity, where they have been carried captive, and pray toward their land which You gave to their fathers, the city which You have chosen, and toward the temple which I have built for Your name: then hear from heaven Your dwelling place their prayer and their supplications, and maintain their cause, and forgive Your people who have sinned against You.” II Chronicles‬ ‭6‬:‭36‬-‭39‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

I’m going to expand on last week’s thoughts, something I haven’t done much of. This is on my heart though, and I write about what God places on my heart each week…

Truly, hard times have come upon God’s people over and over, since Adam and Eve sinned, becoming banished from the Garden. The underlying causes of all of our problems is one theme that every single person who ever has and ever will live has in common: sin. Romans 3:23 reminds us that ALL have sinned. Only Jesus Christ was without sin.

There is another commonality we all share: because of what Jesus did for us on the cross, we can and we need to come to God humbly asking for His forgiveness. In His abundant mercy we will be led out of our valleys (in His time!), and as we reconcile ourselves with Him we will be overwhelmed by His presence, His deliverance, and His love.

I am learning more and more that we need to focus on our commonalities, finding ways to come together. We are all unique, different, diverse, and wonderful. We each have lived different lives, so naturally we are going to have different perspectives on many things. But if we will come together, testing our viewpoints against God’s whole Word, we will find we have more power against evil as a group of God’s children, leaning on Him, seeking Him, and obeying His will. I have said it before, but it needs to be something we do not lose sight of: we are at war. Not with each other! We are at war against evil spirits, and the devil himself!! We can only survive each battle by focusing on our Leader, our true Commander: God. Study His Word, go to Him in prayer, TRUST in His promises!

The wars we are used to seeing, on the news and in textbooks, are unpredictable. But this spiritual war that we are fighting has a predetermined outcome! We know that in the end: JESUS WINS! This is our hope! This is our future! This is the joy that we have in Christ, and what a joy it is!!

So friends, I know that the news each night is bleak. I know that this world feels overrun by evil. And I know that each of us has walked through darkness at various points in our lives. My prayer for you this week, and always: I pray you focus on God and His promises. Lean on Him and He will not fail you. Remember, the rough spots in this life are caused by sin. When we turn from our sins, back to God, He delivers us - just as He promises in His Word.

Be blessed and be the blessing.
